Signs Your Windows Need Replacing in a Florida Home
Fog or moisture between the panes
When a sealed glass unit fails, humid air gets between the panes and condenses. The window looks cloudy and stays that way. Cleaning does not fix it because the moisture is inside the unit.
Sashes that stick, drop or will not lock
Salt air and humidity are hard on hardware and balances. A window that fights you, or one that will not latch, is a comfort problem and a security problem.
Soft or stained frames
Press on the frame and sill. Soft spots, peeling finish or water stains on the wall below the window usually mean water has been getting in for a while.
Drafts and hot spots
If a room near a window is noticeably hotter in the afternoon, the glass and frame are letting heat through. Newer glass packages are made for Florida sun.
Noise
Old single-pane windows let in traffic and neighbor noise. Laminated or insulated glass makes a real difference in how quiet the house feels.
Replace a few or all?
You can replace only the worst windows. Many homeowners start with the room they use most or the side of the house that takes the weather. We will walk through the options opening by opening during the visit.
